My Chocolatey 5th Birthday in South America!

An interview with Lara….. Lara’s birthday is on 21st December – we started celebrating her birthday a couple of weeks early as having a party was an all important part of her travel plans for our family gap year so we decided to hold it in San Cristobal in the Galápagos where she’d made friends. When packing, the only significant thing on her list was party bags. Here’s how she recalls it when I attempt an interview for her birthday blog…..

Mum:  Lara, when was your birthday?

Lara:  No idea!        Mum:  Really?            Lara :   Mum, don’t write that!!

Mum:  Was it December?          Lara:  Yes!           Mum:  Can you remember what date in December?

Lara:  No idea.  Mum, are you writing that down?…who’s going to read it Mum?

Mum: Your friends and everyone back home who’s reading our blog…. Was it the 21st?

Lara:  My birthday was on the 21st December.

Mum:  Did you have a party?            Lara:  Can’t remember…  Yes!

Mum:  Where was it?                   Lara:   It was in England

Mum:  That was last year…!

Lara: Oh  I mean the Galápagos. At my school. I had a Barbie in my cake and I got to keep it!

Mum: Who was there?

Lara:  My friends at school and my family!

Mum:  What did you do?

Lara:  Danced!

Mum:  Was it a good party?

Lara:  Yes!

Mum:  Noisiest ever?

Lara:  Yep!

Mum:  What about party bags?  Remember you wanted to bring those from England!

Lara:  but we didn’t did we Mum but we did get them in that laundry didn’t we!

Mum:  And what about on your actual birthday  – What do you remember getting for your birthday?

Lara:  Little bits of Barbie!

Mum:  !??!!??   …..you mean Polly Pockets?

Lara: Mmm…..  And curly straws

Mum:  Tell me bout how we celebrated your actually birthday in Cusco?

Lara:  We made chocolate in the chocolate museum in Cusco – it was really nice

Chocolate heaven at the CHoco Museo. Cusco for Lara's birthday. They even made her a birthday chocolate fondue - shame she doesn't like fruit and was already full of chocolate but she still managed a smile!

Mum:  What did you choose for your birthday lunch?

Lara:  MacDonald’s chicken nuggets!!!

Mum:  Oh yes, and you had a little bit of sushi too in the restaurant upstairs where everyone ate afterwards…

Lara:  And Mummy, remember that fruit thing they made me for my birthday with a candle but you all ate it, I didn’t eat any!

Mum:  It was a delicious chocolate tart with fruit on top! The rest of us loved it!

Mum:  What was the best bit of your day?

Lara:  Having MacDonald’s!

Mum: What!?  …… not the chocolate museum?

Lara:  MacDonald’s …. And mummy    I want to spend my next birthday on holiday too!

Zoe:  what?!!  But Lara! What about your friends?  Helena and the others – wont you miss them?

Lara:  Yes I will, but I didn’t have them this year and I’ve still had a great time!
