‘People get divorced more often than they change bank’ is no longer true but I am sure many people (like me) have had the same bank account for 30+ years. There is a lot of inertia to overcome in moving and in a competitive market surely all their charges are much of a muchness? Calculator time and I was shocked!

When I backpacked around the world in 1992 I returned to the UK 12 months later a stone or two heavier than when I departed! I think when I arrived in Australia after 5 months in SE Asia living on healthy rice & veg, the joy of being able to buy biscuits and chocolate somewhat got the better of me!
I’d like to avoid that on our family adventure!

Yesterday I went to London to an exhibition at ExCel, it took 3 hours to get there with 7 stops. I did not see many smiling faces on my journey and even after rush hour I had to stand half of the way, perhaps the train has suddenly become popular with driving so expensive? Against this backdrop I had two encounters which brightened up my day:

So whilst my lovely workaholic hubby was blogging away earlier tonight, I was getting our 3 children to bed! But oh, he of little faith! Who needs to wait till tomorrow? I successfully booked our first flight using Avios miles and Amex BA companion vouchers – yes, we actually found availability! Thank you BA and thank you Amex! We’re headed to Rio de Janeiro on 11th July 2012! YAY!!! More

If you go on holiday and spend £1000 on your credit card any idea how much you pay in fees? I hadn’t a clue, hardly top of my list of priorities if you are going away for a few days. So off to Google and Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert who do a nice comparison. Ouch… More

A friend died yesterday of cancer. He was in his forties and leaves a young family behind. I cannot begin to imagine what they have been through and our thoughts are with them.
Whilst we feel so very sad we should celebrate his life and what he gave to others.
