God Save our Queen

After a lovely couple of days in Suffolk visiting my Mum’s cousin and enjoying an afternoon of medieval jousting at an ancient castle in the rain, our jubilee celebrations today wth friends, for which the heavens opened and did not let up at all, watching some of the fantastic celebrations through the weekend in London, it’s certainly a time to enjoy our Britishness and make the most of being ‘at home’ with our lovely friends and families…

I still remember clearly the silver jubilee in 1977 and attending a Southwick street party nearby – I think we were a bit luckier with the weather then!

We’ve just realized there will be an evening of spectacular celebrations in Brighton and Hove as the Olympic torch passes through Brighton a few days after we leave for Rio which will be disappointing to miss! I hope we can see it on utube and someone will send up a few pics!

I know we’re going to have times of home sickness whilst we’re on our family gap year and as the countdown gets lower (36 days today – eeek!) I’m feeling it more acutely! Just glad that living in this digital age will allow us to stay connected through blogs, email, Skype etc!

Happy Jubilee everyone! And Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth on her 60 years!!
